The arrangement conference takes approximately one-and-a-half to two hours and typically takes place at our office—however, we can meet wherever you are most comfortable. The arrangement conference is a time to get all of your questions answered and begin making the plans as to how you would like to “say goodbye.”
When you come in to make arrangements for your loved one, we will guide you through the steps to arrange ceremonies and final disposition, including:
- Learning about your loved one to ensure the services planned are a reflection of their life
- Reviewing and discussing information and documents for either burial or cremation
- Discussing wishes regarding personalizing the ceremony, such as memorial folders, video tributes, and more
- Helping compose an obituary
- Gathering information for the legal documents such as the death certificate
Items you will want to bring to the arrangement conference:
- Clothes (whether selecting burial and cremation)
- Photo to include with obituary
- DD214 discharge document for veterans
- Personal cosmetics if desired
- Personal mementos you may want buried or cremated with your loved one
The staff at Dokken-Nelson is available to you 24-hours-a-day—everyday. Our telephones are answered by a staff member—never by an answering service. Don't ever hesitate to call us at 587.3184 if you have question.
