Jane Ahrendes

August 10, 1918 ~ July 06, 2012

Service: July 24, 2012 11:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M.
   Location: Lindley Park Pavilion

Jane Chase (Liquin) Ahrendes died peacefully of natural causes on July 6, 2012 in Bozeman, MT.  Jane, age 93, was born August 10, 1918 in Wilsall, MT, and grew up there through her high school years.  She graduated from Montana State College in 1939 with a BS degree in Business, and worked at MSC in the administrative office for two years.

Jane married Ernest Ahrendes on October 25, 1941, and lived happily ever after with him for 64 years.  They started life together in Bozeman, then spent a short stint in Washington DC.  Taking over the family farm, they lived in Highwood for 14 years where Jane also taught school.  After 3 years in Culbertson, they moved back to Bozeman. Jane and Ernie traveled the world, loved spending winters in California by the ocean, but Montana claimed her heart.

Jane’s life was dedicated to love of her family, her four children and Ernie. She loved being a Mom, cooking (as exemplified by her A#1 pies!), camping vacations in Yellowstone & Glacier, and animals.  She was involved in every community she lived in through church activities, Women’s Club, Bridge Club, her Knitters group, D.A.R., 4-H, AOII, and many other creative endeavors. Throughout her life, she shared her kindness and gift of caring with everyone she met.

She will be remembered by her kids, her grandkids, and great-grandkids as a loving wife, a wonderful mom, and an exceptional “Nanny”!

Jane is survived by her four children, Donna (Alan) Johnson of Great Falls, Mary Jane Ahrendes (Michael Dalton) of Great Falls, Frank (Daphne) Ahrendes of Bozeman, and Jim Ahrendes (Vicki Thomas) of El Paso, Texas.  Grandchildren include Shelly (Stan) Moody, Kim (Grant) Lessig, Jamie (Ken) Nelson, John (Julie) Shepherd, Ben Griffanti, Jill (Tony) Smith, Jason (Dani) Ahrendes, Kenny (Cathy) Ahrendes, Juanita Thomas-Ahrendes, and Kelly Ahrendes. Jane is also survived by fifteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; her sister, Mary Taylor; brothers, Kenneth, Fred & Charles Liquin.

Join in the celebration of Jane’s life at a memorial picnic on Tuesday, July 24th at the Lindley Park Pavilion, in Bozeman, from 11am-2pm.  Bring your good memories to share.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Bozeman Deaconess Foundation, with a notation for Hospice, 931 Highland Blvd, St. 3200, Bozeman, MT 59715. We are so grateful for the wonderful care given to Jane in her last months.

Family Feedback

"I just wanted to thank you for all your help with my dad's funeral.  Planning a funeral can be very stressful, but you took such care that we were never confused or stressed about anything.  It was so easy to call and talk with you and ask questions.  You presented all the options to us clearly to let us decide about things, and then you made them happen at the service so we didn't have to do anything.  You are so very good at your job."
