Martin Levine

July 25, 1943 ~ February 24, 2013

Martin (Marty) David Levine, born July 25, 1943 in New York City, left this world February 24, 2013. Marty attended Flushing High School and Long Island University.

He joined Eastern Airlines during October 1964 in New York. He then transferred to Miami, Florida in November 1968. He made many wonderful friends there, including Mary Pat and Dick Nittinger (children, Kate and Cale), Patti and Connie Love, Myrnie Boucek (children, Dana and Matt), Mike and Peggy Durney (children, Meghan, Kevin and Erin), and Rich and Debbie Johnson.

His travels with Eastern Airlines enabled him to see such exotic places as Nepal, India, Iran and Afghanistan, but his favorite places were our U.S. National Parks, especially Yellowstone and Yosemite. When Eastern folded in 1991, he moved to Bozeman and worked as a classified ad representative at the Bozeman Daily Chronicle for 17 years. He was an avid and average racquetball player and an ace at scrabble. He also excelled at culinary arts and loved preparing delicious dishes for his lucky friends.

Marty was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in July 2012. Though he fought a valiant battle, he decided to give up the fight in early February 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his sister, Arlene Levine and his faithful feline friends, Comet and Callie. Marty wanted to thank all of the people in Bozeman and abroad who made his life more enjoyable. May his spirit now fly again to his favorite places. He knew the world and he knew his mind. We should all be so.

Donations in his name can be made to the Yosemite National History Association, P.O. Box 230, El Portal, CA 95318.
