Geneva Garneski

April 8, 1925 ~ August 08, 2017

Geneva Alice Friesen Garneski (nee Schramm)

April 8, 1925 – August 8, 2017

Gen lived her life with a fiery enthusiasm that was contagious and inspiring. From being raised on a dairy farm outside of Eau Claire, Wisconsin to traveling the world for her career as a registered nurse consultant to architects building international hospitals, Gen spent her life in service to others with a great faith in God and in the goodness of humanity.

We will always deeply cherish Gen’s indomitable spirit, her beautiful hands that served so many, and her sparkling eyes that reflected the nature of her soul; the delight, the sense of play, the love that she so radiantly and generously shared with us all. We are so blessed to have walked, or in most cases walked really fast, to try to keep step with her during our amazing years together. Thank you, Gen, for all that you have been and all that you have done to enrich your family’s life and that of so many others around the world!

We will forever celebrate you and hold close in our hearts all the rich memories we’ve shared, our dearest mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and devoted friend. And now as you continue your journey within the Source of all creation, we honor your amazing life, so incredibly well- lived here on earth. Godspeed our dearest Angel!

Eternal gratitude to Gen’s daughter, Joni Westberg, her husband Brian, and son Bradley for their years of devoted, loving care for our mother. Gen passed peacefully, holding the hand of her beloved daughter in the home she treasured in the majestic hills of Bozeman, Montana.

For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun?
And what is it to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered?

Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing.
And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb.
And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance. – Kahlil Gibran

Per her wishes, Gen’s life will be celebrated in a private family memorial in lieu of a formal service or funeral.

"Thank you for the wonderful care you took of my mother, father, and the whole family throughout her funeral process.  The service was beautiful, as was the video.  Thank you for allowing us to hold the reception there.  It was very comfortable and warm.  We so appreciate your caring, concern, and respect."
