Frances Reller

May 5, 1920 ~ December 24, 2017

Frances F. (Glasgow) Reller passed away at Gallatin Rest Home in Bozeman, Montana, on December 24, 2017.  She was 97 years old.  She was born to Todd and Maggie (Brown) Glasgow on May 5, 1920, in Pierre, South Dakota.  Frances was 9th of 13 children.  The family moved to Oregon living in various towns.

She met her husband, Frank Reller, in Oregon and they were married July 2, 1939.  Frances and Frank, along with their three daughters, moved to Belgrade, Montana, in 1953.  Frank then worked at Yellowstone Pine Lumber Co., which one brother and brother-in-law built in 1951.

They built a home on Jackrabbit Lane, and in 1967 they built the Friendly Tavern, which Frances ran.  They bought the Bunkhouse Bar in Toston and ran that also until selling and moving back to their old stomping grounds in Gold Beach, Oregon, in 1978.

They had a beautiful place on a bluff overlooking the ocean.  They enjoyed spending hours on the beach, playing cards or just having a drink and entertaining family and friends that stopped by for a drink or to spend a day or two.

Frances moved back to Belgrade in 2002 after Frank’s passing to be with her daughters.  Being in good health, she lived alone for many years eventually moving in with her daughter and son-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; six brothers; six sisters; two grandchildren, Donna Carlyle and Darrell “Butch” Carlyle, Jr.; and son-in-law, Stan Carlyle.

Frances is survived by three daughters, Susie Fonk of Bozeman, Judy (Darrell) Carlyle of Belgrade, and Lydia “Janie” Carlyle of Belgrade; four grandchildren, Mike (Debby) Topp of Albuquerque, NM, Debbie (David) Keith of West Yellowstone, MT, Shirley (Simon) Garcia of Pasco, WA, and Carmen (David) Lohr of Baltimore, MD; eight great-grandchildren; 7 ½ great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Frances L. Reller of Four Corners, MT; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She will be missed.  Holidays and any party or get-together will not be the same without her.

The family would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Elsie’s Assisted Living in Belgrade and all of you at Gallatin Rest Home for the great care you gave Frances.

At Frances’ request, no services are planned at this time.

"I just wanted to thank you for all your help with my dad's funeral.  Planning a funeral can be very stressful, but you took such care that we were never confused or stressed about anything.  It was so easy to call and talk with you and ask questions.  You presented all the options to us clearly to let us decide about things, and then you made them happen at the service so we didn't have to do anything.  You are so very good at your job."
