Loralei H. McGuire, 88, of Bozeman passed away Thursday, February 22, 2018.  She was born June 8, 1929, in Wellsville, Utah, to Arnold and Violet (Wyatt) Holland.  She grew up on the family ranch in Albion, Idaho.

Loralei received her Music Education degree from Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho.  She also attended some quarters at Brigham Young University in Ogden, Utah, where she met her husband, Charles.  They were wed in Salt Lake City, Utah, on June 3, 1952.  After Charles graduated, they moved to Twin Falls, Idaho before returning to Odgen.  In 1956, they moved to Washington Terrace, Utah, then to Fargo, North Dakota in 1965, and finally landed in Bozeman in 1968.

She loved teaching and taught elementary school near Ogden, and in Fargo and Bozeman.  Loralei was a dedicated member of the LDS Church, participating in outreach activities and helping her husband open a church in Big Sky, Montana.

Loralei sang with the Sweet Adelines barbershop group, and she played viola and piano.  Later in life, she became an avid watercolor painter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; sister, Violet; brother, Grant; and her parents.

Survivors include her children, Loralei, Chuck, Eric, Trish, and Grant; grandchildren, Cara (Jason) Marks, Jason (Ruth) Vollmer, Nichole (Frank) Thrasher, Loralei LaVoie, Bryan (Ashely) Penninger, Tiana (Blyth) McGuire, Tyleah McGuire, Erica (Michael) Jordan, and Emily McGuire; great-grandchildren, Brenden Vollmer, Camille Collins, Malia and Avery Vollmer, Allisha Cottrell, Sean, Drew, and Nathan Thrasher, and Peyton and Paisley Penninger; as well as a number of furry grandbabies.

Loralei (“Granny”) had an adventurous spirit and would have been an incredible opera star!  She truly missed her sweetheart and is blessed to be reunited with Charlie.  She was deeply loved and will be missed.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 3 at 10:00 A.M. at the LDS Institute, 1316 S. 5th Ave. in Bozeman, followed by Funeral Services at 11:00 A.M.  Interment will take place at Sunset Hills Cemetery.
