Jesus Acosta

November 17, 1939 ~ December 02, 2018

Jesus Manuel “Cucho” Acosta, Jr., 79, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at home with his family at his side.

Jesus was born on November 17, 1939 in Belize City, Belize, C.A.  His passion was music and he was known as a great musician, becoming one of the greatest saxophonists in Belize.  The Professionals band became one of the most famous bands in Belize, producing a few beloved records.

He met the love of his life in Belize and they started their family.  In the mid-70’s, the couple decided to move to the United States.  They made Gillette, Wyoming their home for 40 years.

Jesus enjoyed helping others and putting a smile on the face of everyone he came in contact with.  His spirit and joy were contagious.  Family was always his biggest accomplishment and priority.  He worked many years for West Industrial Electric.  He then worked for Prairie Wind Elementary.  He was passionate and caring in everything he did and loved being with his co-workers and students at the school.  His retirement was in 2016.

Jesus is survived by his wife, Amalia “Molly” Acosta; children, Andrea Acosta, Anicee Acosta-Yearick (Chris), and Adrian Acosta (Sarah); sisters, Nena Rosado and Margaret Reid; brothers, Manual Acosta and Tony Acosta; grandchildren, Caleb Yearick, Britani Yearick, Ainsley Yearick, and Aiden Acosta; and many family members and friends in Wyoming and Montana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus Acosta and Lola Acosta.

A Celebration of Jesus’s Life will be held in the summer of 2019 in Gillette.
