Dorothy Baker

July 16, 1946 ~ December 25, 2017

Dede Baker went to be with her Lord and Savior early Christmas Morning 2017.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, Andrew and Dorothy Lester; sister, Diane Cofer; and brother, Andrew D. Lester.  She leaves behind her husband of over 50 years, Larry Baker; son, Bryce and his wife Jenny and their two daughters Aurora (12) and Chloe (7); and daughter, Kimbree and her husband Nick Redburn.  She also leaves behind her sisters, Sharon Jones and Bonnie McCardel; and brother, Rusty Lester.

Dede was born and raised in Florida and attended school in Virginia, but found her true home among the mountains of Montana.  Upon moving to Montana, she received her Bachelor’s degree and her Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Montana State University.  She spent her career helping children learn and grow as the Director of the Child Development Center at Montana State University and also as an instructor at MSU.

The family joke was that she knew everyone in Bozeman under 3 1/2 feet tall. She was active in the community, especially volunteering at the Salvation Army in recent years and also by serving on the board of the Cancer Support Community.  She loved to travel, read constantly, and above all loved her family.  Dede was a deeply religious person who knew the love of the Lord and demonstrated each day her Christian values.

Dede will be missed by all, especially by the families of Fort Baker, who knew her.  The world is a better place for her time on it.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made and sent to the Cancer Support Community Montana, 102 South 11 Ave., Bozeman, MT 59715.

Private family services will be held.

"You blessed us in many ways and we can only say 'Thanks' for your understanding and patience during our time of grief.  You have a compassion that comes from your heart.  You are a blessing-may God continue to use you to Bless others."
